Enhanced Write Filter
EWF Advantages
- Allows for “Dirty” shutdown.
- Protects against end users making configuration changes.
- Protects against virus infection.
- Allows system to boot from read only media such as CD or DVD.
- Enables the use of flash media as a main Operating System drive.
File Based Write Filter
FBWF Advantages
- All the advantages of the EWF
- Allows Customer Software to write to log files and configuration files
HORM Advantages
- Gives the end user an “instant on” experience
- Enables the device to always power on to the state the developer intends to end user to see.
DUA Advantages
- The DUA (Device Update Agent) allows the designer of the product to quickly and easily update any aspect of their device. From the changing the software installed to configuring different features within the operating system, Windows firewall for example.
- The DUA polls a set location at customer set intervals, every 60 seconds for example or every second Tuesday of the month at 3pm.
- The location can be local to that machine (C:\DUA) or at a remote location on a network or even a HTTP address on a webserver.
